Learning to live life abroad

I wish that I had people to show me and tell me how to live life effectively and to the fullest while living overseas. There is no guide to help you learn how to take life by the reigns in a foreign land. Truth be told, living overseas or in a foreign land is challenging. There is no 'right way' to do it, but there are a lot of 'wrong ways' to do it. Something I have never been comfortable with is change, adjusting and inconsistency. I grew up with a very predictable life. There were no real worries. I went to the same school, lived in the same town, had the same friends, played the same sports with the same people, had the same teachers as my siblings...I knew just what to expect. Life was easy, it came naturally. Fast forward years later, post college and grad school, enter married life with a baby on the way moving from country to country. How do you manage change, lack of consistency, uncertainty and life in a foreign place? I am still looking for that answer, but a...

Our Big Move: Thanks for the Upgrade Roselyn

So about 3 weeks ago Josh's team approached us about looking at new apartments (which we had been praying for). We viewed 2 places and settled on our second option. To our surprise it had a lovely kitchen and a BATHTUB!!!! Huge plus anywhere in Europe! We now live just 6 miles west of Nazareth. Our village is called Timrat. It is a wonderful place on a mountain top. There is only one way in and out of the village and it is gated. It is a very safe neighborhood perfect for raising a family! We have a terrific set of neighbors who we really enjoy. They are full of wisdom and great advice for us young parents/couple. They have been together 30 years and have raised 2 boys. We are blessed to have them! In getting settled here we are looking to secure our final choice of where Roselyn will be born. After much prayer, we will be viewing 2-3 hospitals and one birthing center. We are getting into a routine now for when Rosie comes. We found that she really enjoys music, especially Andre Bo...

Getting Aquainted With Our Backyard

Shalom! So somehow I managed to get Josh out into the wilderness. Actually, it wasn't so hard! I just packed an amazing lunch (with homemade cookies as dessert) and told him we were going to have a picnic...and visit this place I found. He asked, "How long is the walk, so I can prepare myself"....poor guy, he is used to my 'little walks' that are actually miles long and usually make up a few hours. I told him this place was a 10 minute walk away, I failed to mention how much walking and hiking we would do once we were there! But as usual, my trooper fell in love with the beauty that surrounded him, how could he not. See, Josh is a history freak, he loves history and exploring....in fact he loves history so much that when he first started playing pro ball, he brought his history books with him from school. What a nerd right....I LOVE IT! The pictures below are of a national park in Bet Sha'rim. This is an acropolis from the Roman era that was...
